MOLD MAKING

Quality mold making is only possible one way, with experience. Even with all the automation of 3D design and CNC there will always be the need to have highly skilled mold makers. At MSI we don't just deal with our own new tool builds, we see anything from problematic oversees tooling, to tools that customers have purchased at auctions or had sitting for extended periods of time. Generally these are molds that have never been at MSI before, therefore MSI will generally not have data to work with for these tools. Our mold makers will then diagnose the issue or do preventative maintenance as needed on the tooling. If an engineering change is needed this is when we evaluate the most efficient way to perform the task at hand. This is when we decide;do we create 3D geometry to then CNC or EDM this or is this something that would be best left for the experience of the mold maker?
