ENGINEERING
Our engineering department is where it all starts. Although we regularly receive the finished part data from our customer to create or modify the mold,
we often find ways to improve molding conditions or reduce mold cost or maintenance through part changes. Often we are called upon to make these
changes for our customers in order to reach our build deadlines. We can then forward that changed data in various data formats allowing our customers
to keep their files up to date. A growing trend is to see a mold come in from overseas or purchased from an auction that is not
accompanied with any information on the build or part geometries. This is just one of the many things that MSI specializes in. We can take
your mold with or without data and get the results you're looking for. Through the use of free form modeling we make the changes or duplicate tools as needed.
Our engineering department utilizes Keycreator (formerly Cadkey) with the Expert Mold Design (XMD) module built in. The combination of these two softwares
together means that all data is created in one format, not bounced between one modeling software and a different design software. With XMD and Keycreator
we are able to create 2D and 3D designs simultaneously, allowing us to fast track the preliminary phase and get right to producing a 3D product the shop
can begin working on immediately. Keycreator has built in translators for translating data directly from all the major CAD softwares, including Catia, ProE, UG,
Solid works and Inventor. Keycreator also translates non native formats such as STEP, ACIS and Parasolids. With Keycreator we do not rely on history based
constraints therefore there is no geometry we cannot work with. At MSI there are no boundaries.
